MAINTAINING GILDING: THE ESSENTIAL STEPS
Many of our pieces are gold-plated. Unlike the simple plating used in everyday costume jewelry, 14 or 18 karat gold plating offers a generous thickness that ensures remarkable durability. This high-quality plating, however, requires proper care: skin acidity, cosmetics, and humidity are the main factors that cause wear. By adopting the right practices, a piece of gold jewelry can last for many years.
Daily care: After each wear, wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth to remove any traces of perspiration, moisture, and sebum. The skin's natural acidity, combined with humidity, is the primary enemy of gold plating. This simple step, performed every evening, is enough to preserve the shine of your pieces every day.
The golden rule: put your jewelry on last, take it off first. Absolutely avoid all contact with perfumes, eau de toilette, moisturizers, hairsprays, and cosmetics. These substances contain chemicals that attack the gold plating and dull its shine. Your jewelry should always be the last accessory you put on in the morning and the first you take off at night.
JAPANESE PEARL CARE
Pearls are living materials that gain in beauty through contact with the skin. On our fine gold-plated creations, they add a touch of softness and refinement. After each wear, gently wipe them with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Keep them away from other jewelry, in a fabric pouch, away from direct sunlight.
PRESERVE THE MOTHER-OF-PEARL
Mother-of-pearl possesses an incomparably delicate iridescent sheen. Wipe it with a soft, barely damp cloth after each use. Strictly avoid alcohol-based cleaners, abrasive brushes, and ultrasonic cleaning. Store your mother-of-pearl jewelry in a fabric-lined case, separate from metal pieces.
GEMSTONES: CLEANING AND PRECAUTIONS
Our jewelry is adorned with stones with unique brilliance — amethyst, turquoise, carnelian, rose quartz and moonstone.
Each stone has its own characteristics:
• Amethyst: is sensitive to prolonged direct sunlight, which can alter its purple hue. Store it away from sunlight.
• Turquoise: a fragile and porous stone, it is sensitive to humidity and chemicals. Avoid all contact with water.
• Rose quartz: more resistant, but appreciates storage away from light to preserve its color.
• Carnelian: robust for everyday use, however avoid thermal shocks and household products.
• Moonstone: delicate, protect from impacts. Clean it only with warm soapy water.
Regardless of the type of stone, be careful not to immerse the entire piece of jewelry to preserve the gold plating.
RESIN AND ENAMEL
Resin and enamel give our gilded creations vibrant colors. Clean these materials with a soft cloth, without solvents or abrasive products. Store them away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
